We Must Trust In God Not In Ourselves

Men and women all need to trust in God, not in themselves. Trust in self and pride go hand in hand. Trust in ourselves is too often pride. We all have a desire to trust in ourselves. We also naturally prefer to put our trust in other men we can see rather than God who we cannot see.

2 Corinthians 1:9 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:

Jeremiah 17:5 Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.

Psalms 52:7 Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness. 8 But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever. 9 I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.

Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

James 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

1 Peter 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Needless to say, we are not mighty like God is mighty. Our need to trust in Him is all over the Bible. We cannot say too much about our need to trust in God and Him alone.
